So, I took off for 3 weeks in Dec in order to use up all my vacations days left in 2006. Traveled to HK, and went on 2 side-trips to Taipei and Shanghai. I always love visiting Taipei and HK, the 2 cities are lively, great shopping. fantastic food, convenient transport system, just world-class.
I did not recognize Shanghai at all, having last been there more than 20 years ago. Even places I thought for certain I would "know" were no where to be found as they too have gone through major renovations, face lifts etc. I quite liked the bustle in every corner of Shanghai. But, I must admit, even though I am not claustrophobic, the crowd at the People's Square subway station on the Saturday afternoon scared the wits out of me - enough to make me wanna walk above ground, back to the other side of NanJing Rd vs. going through the underground passage way to change trains on the other platform.
Best thing about my trip? Being in HK for Christmas, of course. Would be hard-pressed to find something to top that!
Here's some pictures from the trip. Hope you enjoy them as I much as I did being there.
