London bombings Thursday July 7

Sad and frightening day in London - sent shivers down the spines of people around the world, including mine. Was glad to hear from Jay, that he was safe, unharmed in London. Found it very hard to focus at work all day, kept on wanting to find out about the bombings. Then later, saw pictures of some of the blast scenes - hearing about the happenings around Russell Square made me very upset. Still remember my first Contiki trip after graduation, the Royal National, walking around that area, having taken the tube from Heathrow and emerging from the Russell Square station and being in that neighbourhood for the first time.

I am saddened by it all. To make things worse, once again, the global agenda has been hijacked by some isolated self-serving group. They have stolen from us the opportunity to bring the world together to seriously think about helping millions of people in Africa to be in a better position to help themselves and make their lives better. Sigh.
